Default Bobwhite Quail at Avalon Park on Lake Lavon!

There were two males exchanging calls from the underbrush separating nearby homes from the park entrance. I tried hard to get a glimpse, but was unsuccessul; fortunately, I did succeed in avoiding a trespassing citation, as the birds are pretty much in the backyards of some homes adjoining the park. If you drive straight down the entry-road with your windows open, you can't miss hearing them!

Other highlights of the day include an orchard oriole and a pair of Wilsons phalaropes. There were scads of shorebirds.

Avalon Park never lets me down. Well worth the $4 entry fee.

Awesome find! Can you provide any more specifics on where exactly the birds were? I will probably go look for them tomorrow

They're hanging out in the area along the entry road--just past where you pay your entry fee--first half mile before you reach the bend to the left. If you don't hear them in the scrub to your left, they could be in the unmowed field to the right. Try driving or walking along the first road to your right, too, as they were moving around a bit yesterday. They don't sing continuously, so you may need to wait a bit for them to perform. Good luck!
