I took the following photos in Florida last month. Checking my bird books, I'm not 100% sure about their IDs.

Red-shoulder hawk, Florida subspecies?
(Took in Everglades NP)

Long-tailed Jaeger?
(Took in Key West)

Thanks.

The second photo of the big black & white bird is of a female Magnificant Frigatebird. I'm positive.

Not positive about the raptor.

Sorry, I've been distracted by the weather and my power going out. I'll try to find out.

I asked that first bird "what's your species?" and he replied, "Red-shouldered Hawk." However, he must have thought that was a pick-up line or something, because now he's following me around wherever I go, bringing me sticks for a nest, and regurgitating lizards and snakes as "gifts" for me. Maybe I'll just string him along for a while. I have to admit, these gifts are quite nice; he's just not my type.

Lei, please see Betsy's post (see Announcements) about the outage experienced that resulted in the loss of your post and Dave's.

Thanks,
Connie

Connie: Thanks a lot for the info and the ID. In my missing post, I just said that I'd like to thank you and David for the IDs. Frigatebird was one of birds I'd like to photo in Florida. I was surprised I totally forgot about it.

Here is a photo I'd like to share to you all. I took it yesterday in Arbor Hills:

Just for the record, here's (roughly) what was in the post that disappeared:

Yes, the raptor is a Florida Red-shouldered Hawk, the palest subspecies. These birds are much grayer than the birds we see in Texas and would look even more drab next to the brightly colored California birds.

In your stunning photo, the bird's red "shoulder" is visible as a rusty stripe in the wing.

For comparison, I took this photo last year in central Florida at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve:
