I'm planning to take some beginning birders out this weekend, and I'm wondering if anyone has seen Short-eared Owls at Paul Mathews Prairie this year? They put on a good show last winter, and I'm hoping they are there again this year.

Also, I should introduce myself. I've spent significant portions of the last five years in Texas (mostly for college, when I birded some with NETFO (http://members.tripod.com/NETFO_TX/)), but I have just this month moved to Texas (Duncanville, specifically) as a resident. The Snow Bunting and Little Gull were nice welcome presents.

I blog about birds at Search and Serendipity (http://djringer.com/birding/).

Thanks.

David

David,
Welcome to the Audubon Dallas birding forums. I don't have an answer for you, but I'll try to find out.

So far, no luck finding out about the Short-eared Owls.

Will your trip be postponed due to the weather?

Huh, what happened to my reply to this message? Anyway, thanks for trying to find out Connie. We've postponed the trip, but I still hope to get out there. If I do, I'll let you know what we find. David
