It's that time of year again!

You may find adventurous injured or orphaned nestlings on the ground. Here are a couple of links with information to use in case that happens to you.

At the UTSWMC Rookery, on weekdays only:
http://www.dallasegrets.org/index.html
on weekends, contact Rogers Wildlife:
http://www.rogerswildlife.org/

Rogers Wildlife can also help out with advice any day of the week for situations at any location.

Thanks,
Anna

This veterinary clinic takes in injured birds. I think they route them to Rogers Wildlife Rescue. They are very convenient for anyone in the wide vicinity of White Rock Lake.

I've taken an injured bird to them within the last year so I assume that option is still viable.

Also, I called Dallas Animal Control for an injured Hawk a couple of years ago on the advice of a wildlife rescue group (can't remember who). It was on a Sunday and no one was open.

When the animal control lady arrived I questioned her thoroughly. She had called me on my cell phone so I could be on-site when she got there at my request. Pretty decent service. I hope this is the rule and not the exception. She said Animal Control routinely gets injured hawks and take them to Rogers if my memory serves me well. I was impressed with her professionalism and interest in helping injured birds. The bad thing is the hawk was gone when she arrived. It had a broken wing. According to her hawks can climb a tree or skulk into brushy cover for shelter and heal. I hope that was the outcome.
