My family and I just returned from a 6 day trip to the LRGV in which we tried to hit all the major destinations. We only saw 151 species but warblers and sparrows were almost nonexistent down there.
Highlights of the trip:
A pair of nesting Aplomado Falcons on the road to South Padre Island

Masked Ducks at Laguna Atascosa

Clay Colored Robin at Bentsen Rio Grande State Park
Northern Beardless Tyrranulet at Frontera Audubon
With much thanks to John Yochum, the TPWD Naturalist at Estero Llano Grande that led a bird walk with only us on it, who found a Common Pauraque resting on the ground in a thick thicket

Thanks for looking,
